• About Us

Lao Family Community Empowerment was founded in 1984 as Lao Family Community of Stockton to serve the thousands of Hmong refugees arriving in the area following the Vietnam War.

Lao Family Community Empowerment focuses on three priority areas because we believe they are the areas of greatest need and benefit to Northern California’s Southeast Asian community.

Lao Family Community Empowerment has an unmatched ability to outreach to Southeast Asian communities in Northern California, engaging that audience through a variety of means and media.

We offer that experience to other non-profits and community agencies who have a service to provide but need help reaching the Southeast Asian population.

Lao Family Community Empowerment provides a variety of services to area families.

Welcome to Lao Family Community Empowerment, Inc. For more than 25 years, Lao Family has been making the lives of Southeast Asian and refugee families better by providing education, service and advocacy.

Today we serve an eight-county region of Northern California through offices in Sacramento and Stockton. Lao Family Community Empowerment continues to provide direct service and advocacy programs to support individuals and families, and also provides community engagement and outreach services on behalf of other agencies wanting to reach the Southeast Asian community. We also organize the Stockton Hmong New Year celebration each year to bring families together and showcase and preserve Hmong cultural traditions.

Thank you for your interest in Lao Family Community Empowerment and the services we offer. We look forward to working with you to continue expanding opportunities and making our communities better places to live and work.
